TESSERA Professional Console
A professional workstation with height adjustment and integrated infrastructure for compact computing systems.
Designed for environments where performance is distributed, and the operator interface becomes more compact and efficient.
Design - Denis Zarembo
Objective:
The objective was to develop a dispatch console for control rooms, designed around a light-compute architecture. The system needed to accommodate essential computing components — such as KVM units and thin clients — within a compact technical compartment.
The design also had to support modular expansion, including additional technical units, as well as both passive and active ventilation across all configurations. The work surface was required to be height-adjustable.
Insight:
We see a clear shift in this segment. Computing hardware is becoming more compact and efficient, while high-performance systems are increasingly moved into dedicated server environments.
This changes the role of the console itself. It no longer needs to house large computing units — instead, it becomes a precise interface between the operator and a distributed system.
Solution:
We approached the project with a fundamental goal — to make the console not just conceptually “light”, but structurally optimized.
Traditional dispatch consoles typically require significant depth: around 500-650 mm for leg space and an additional 300-400 mm for technical compartments.
We rethought this structure. By designing a slimmer technical compartment, we reduced overall depth while improving operator ergonomics and maintaining full functional capability.
Despite its reduced size, the technical compartment supports all required mounting systems for compact computing equipment. External access panels allow for easy maintenance.
On the operator side, dedicated interface openings enable seamless connection of additional technical modules when needed. These modules can be physically integrated into the console, extending its capabilities without altering the core structure.
We rethought classic structure.
Ventilation was a key focus of the project. The system combines passive airflow with active ventilation: fans integrated into the structural columns extract heat vertically from the equipment.
When additional technical modules are connected, the same system extends airflow across the entire configuration, maintaining stable operating conditions.
Result:
This project reflects a shift in the evolution of control room furniture. Light-compute consoles offer a more efficient, ergonomic and adaptable approach — aligned with how modern computing systems are structured.
The result is a workstation that is compact, scalable and technically precise, while remaining comfortable for long-term use.
